Is over there any method to speak "chipmunk" various other than "ardilla listada"? and "squirrel" is just "ardilla"? Se llaman "ardillas" las dos animales o siempre se dice "ardilla listada" para la más chiquita?

If you to be translating a children"s publication with pictures of a chipmunk on one page saying "Chipmunks have actually fun." and also a squirrel on the following page speak "Squirrels have actually fun too." would certainly you interpret it "Ardillas listadas se divierten. Ardillas se divierten también"?

Thanks.

I have actually seen the descriptive term "ardilla rayada" used for "chipmunk"! I think this and also the hatchet you provided is the only means to differentiate the two animals, however maybe a indigenous has better insight.

I'm afraid your in negative position to chortle on behalf of every Mexicans however. Chichimoco is specifically the word the a Mexican friend from Chihuahua who has actually spent his entire life in the wilds as a cowboy shepherd and also agriculturalist provided when he saw one. - Cobaeno, SEP 6, 2013

I have to admit ns have constantly found the Spanish vocabulary relating come ground squirrels lacking in specificity. Climate again, I expect that if speaker of the language perform not come throughout a details group of animals, it provides sense the it would not seem to them a an especially pressing have to differentiate in between them succinctly in their names. Yet the real suggest of this article was come share this picture. Nice cute as far as rodents go.

A girlfriend of mine simply got earlier from Mexico where he picked up words chichimoco for chipmunk. Ns think it"s a lot cuter than ardilla listada yet wonder if everyone besides world living in Mexico use it.

Hi, I"m dragging up an old object here, but I"ve just been chatting digital to a Spanish girlfriend of mine. She witnessed some photos i took that squirrels and also said she used to have an "ardilla coreana" together a pet. She didn"t know what that was referred to as in English yet said it had actually stripes from head to tail, so i guess it can be a chipmunk. Has anyone else heard of this term?
